Funding
The development and implementation of Smokefree Class Competition was supported by the European
Commission for 11 years.
In 2009, the Smokefree Class Competition Network (SFC-N) was funded by an operating grant of the European
Union in the framework of the Health Programme. The Institute of Therapy and Health Research (IFT-Nord, Kiel Germany) was charged to maintain
the collaboration of the Smokefree Class Competition Network and extend it to new partners.
Cluster randomised controlled trial on SFC published in JECH
A recent study on the effectiveness of SFC confirmed previous findings: SFC contributes to
reduce the probability of progressing from experimental to established smoking.
